We at the Utah Bubble had a great thing going for a while and then, due to life, we slowed down a bit and stopped having fun on the Bubble.  So we are looking for bloggers who might like to join us as we look to “Re-launch” the Utah Bubble in 2010.

THE BLIND SIDE

One of the most inspiring movies in a very long time and I urge everyone to go see it.

Especially instead of that Vampires 90210 movie… watching teenage vampires get all sweaty just doesn’t compare to a true life miracle.

I met a girl the other day who just loves her home.  That home is Utah.  What I thought was most peculiar about her love for Utah was the fact that she thinks it is great that people are willing to make less money and even live with their parents to stay in Utah.

Really?

Then she went on to mention that she thinks MLMs are the greatest kind of company anyone can be apart of.  She also mentioned that another thing she loves about Utah are the fact that Utah is rather stylish and trendy… and she also mentioned that Utah has the best colleges, sports and food.  Food?  Really?

I guess the important lesson here is that there are some people who really do love the good and the bad their home has to offer.

OK Utahns… its that time of year again… time to pick sides and bash the other.  With both teams having lost this years meeting between BYU and The U may not have quite as much hype as last year, but for true fans this is a game that you look forward to EVERY SINGLE YEAR!!!!

Now to be fair The U has proven to be the better team in years past and last year they were arguably the top team in America, but this year it is hard to know.  BYU had a big win early, but they also had a big loss.

So here are some questions for you to answer:

Who is the better team this year?

Who has the better coach?

Who has a better quarterback?

Which team has been better in their history?

I can’t wait to see what you all have to say…

We want to know what you love and hate about The Bubble.  Since I am asking for you to tell, I will go ahead and tell you what I love and hate about Utah.

One thing I love are the mountains and the fishing.  Seriously, I have rarely had as much fun fishing as I have in Utah.  Whether you are fishing the Green River, Provo River or any of the many lakes, fishing in Utah is a ton of fun.  To top it off, you are surrounded with beautiful mountains as long as the pollution isn’t too thick.

One thing I hate about Utah is the fact that people are too frugal.  It’s hard to make good money in Utah and people just don’t seem to care about quality… instead they seem to only care about whether they can get your goods/services at a discount.

OK… so I went… now it’s your turn… let us know what is right and wrong about the good old Beehive State.

In honor of our tried and true fan Nicole we are asking you, the fans, who has the best Cup of Joe in Utah.  Now this would be a serious honor since so much of the state claims to not believe one should drink coffee.  In fact, I don’t drink coffee so I can’t really get things started, but I am sure that Nicole will.

When you are done we’ll vote on the the nominees and hopefully we have more nominees for best coffee than we had for Super Hero

After a few weeks of summer fun and moving we’re back to gettin in on the Bubble Fun.  In less than a month tons of brides-to-be will say I do on September 9th because, for some wacky reason, getting hitched on 9-9-09 is cool.  Actually, it isn’t cool at all, but don’t tell the brides because in their hearts they really do believe this makes them even more special than they would have been if they had gotten married on 9.8.09

We at UtahBubble.com figure this is a good time to get things going again with our “9″ series.  Lists of 9 things that you the viewers get to vote on.  In order to get this celebration going we need your help in the nomination department, but in some cases you may have to be rather creative.

Our first list we’d like to vote on is the 9 BEST Super Heroes from Utah.  We are NOT looking for Superman, Spiderman or Wonder Woman, but an acceptable nomination would be something like:

Mini Van Man.  Defender of all mini-vans.  His super powers include the ability to change any car into a mini-van, the ability to make crazy mini-van drivers temporarily invisible so they won’t hit the other cars they have failed to look for when changing lanes and he can clean up almost any mini-van interior with a special clean-things-up laser that comes out of his eye.  His arch enemies are (and you have to have at least one arch villain):

The Green Joke – (Arch Villain) a man who tries to rid the world of mini-vans and vehicles that can transport more than two people at once in the name of plants and trees, but in actuality he is a self-serving idiot who is a bit naive to how the atmosphere actually works!

Soccer Momzilla – Crazy woman who doesn’t pay attention when she drives mini-vans.  She’s always causing accidents and road-rage, always angry and thinks God loves her more than anyone else.

The Yucky Crap Kid – Don’t let his hame fool you.  This kid has destroyed more mini-vans than anyone and he does it from the INSIDE!  He slowly bring a mini-van to its demise by getting inside them and laying waste to the interior… via spitting, throwing, spilling, vomiting, chewing and other horrible ways The Yuck Crap Kid might just take out your mini-van.

This is just an example, but it may become an actual nominee if you think it should be.  Let us know now by creating your own Utah Super Hero and thanks for coming back and joining us again.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was exactly what I expected.  Explosions, ridiculous and fun.  It isn’t going to win any acting awards and it certainly will not be hailed as an art house phenom, but was it ever supposed to?  Did any of us go to see this movie for the acting?  For the deep story story-line?  No.  Do we go to movies like this one for non-stop action that is totally chaotic.  YES!

I guess Sean P. Means from the Salt Lake Tribune didn’t get the memo.  Like so many “film critics” he takes himself WAY TOO seriously.  So I did some checking and found he gave the original Transformers only two-and-a-half stars… kind of suspect since that movie was really freaking good and well received.  I also have to pick at the guy when he gets down on some of the crude humor of Transformers, but gives four stars to a film like The Hangover and raves about it.  Um… dude… movie may be really funny but all it is all CRUDE humor.

I guess I have a beef with most film critics because most of them suck and they are absolute nobodies who have been given this power to tell us what is and isn’t good about a film.  When will a film critic rise above the rest and critique films the way they should be?

RIGHT NOW!

Films should be critiqued based on what they are.  Transformers is an action filled non-stop slug fest.  It has a goofy and funny lead, a gorgeous leading lady and tons of metal getting crunched.  If you are into this type of fantasy and/or sci-fi films then it is a must see.  If you are a huge fan of the well acted masterpiece this movie isn’t for you.

If we had a rating system – well, I guess I will have to make one for next time – I would rate this film 4 stars out of 5 for the sci-fi/adventure/fantasy crowd as it is a ton of crazy fun!  Oh, and as for our friend at the Trib (Mr. Means)… please stop trying to be like all the other crappy movie reviewers and break the mold man!

So what has happened to the Bubble?  That is a very good question.  I guess we can blame it on the economy and our wonderful President who would rather take trips to Paris and New York than actually do what he said he would and help out the middle class.  I guess Obama is just a typical politician and not the hero many intended!

Then there is our great state of Utah and its oddities.

Utah is a funny place when it comes to the economy.  Utah has more educated people than any state (or at least we are one of the most educated) and yet it ranked 48th this year for median income.

48TH!!!!????  THIRD TO LAST???!!!!  HOW?  Especially when it doesn’t rank that low in cost-of-living.

Anyways, because the economy is slow and since no one actually makes a living here some members of the team (mainly the one who does all the sales and writing) has not been able to make a good enough living doing UtahBubble.com.

BUT…

We shall never surrender because as long as Utah is considered one of the most educated and one of the least paid states we will be here!

As long as we continue to hear stories that boggle the mind… we will be here.

As long as our internet bill is paid… WE WILL BE HERE!

So we’d like to WELCOME OURSELVES BACK and look forward to hanging with you a lot more often… for the second time.

Thanks to a great and exciting economy, brought to you by politicians who really do understand all of your issues, we have not been on the ball here at the Bubble as of late.  What we would like to do is plan for the rest of the year and we want your suggestions as to what you like, what you don’t like and what you’d like us to write or draw about.
