OK folks.  You’ve chosen the Flippin Most Funnest Place in Utah for 2009.  You decided who were Utah’s Best Mommy Bloggers this year as well.  Now it’s time to get to the heart of Utah and choose the Best Burger in the Bubble.  Now we have some basic rules.  This is to find out what is the best burger in Utah, so please don’t nominate chains like McDonalds, In-N-Out or Wendys… mainly because they aren’t all about Utah.

I can’t remember the other rule so I guess we are only going to have one simple rule on this poll

You have until Sunday to nominate your favorite burger joints and the voting begins June 1st!  Be sure to not only nominate but give everyone a reason to go and check out your choice!!!  Burger joint owners are encouraged to participate as well… so lets git-r-done!

As we said yesterday, this poll is the Utah Bubble way of celebrating moms all week long, but we had our weekly Bubble Board Meeting today and we decided to hold off on the poll for a few days.  Why?  Because all too often we get comments like “Hey… I think Bloo Blah Blah should have been nominated!”

Well…

We are going to give you all a week to nominate the best Utah Mommy bloggers through comments where you can pitch why you think that blogger should win!  So this is your chance everyone… to be heard… to have your opinion broadcast to the world (or at least a few thousand people in Utah)!!!

If we reach 32 bloggers we will do a special bracket style poll, and remember that you can nominate more than one blogger at a time so don’t hold back.  32 Is our limit, so once we reach that number no more nominations will be accepted and the blogger needs to be in Utah  We “may” let someone in who is from Utah and is now somewhere else, but you will need to let us know where they are from so we can make a decision.

So nominate someone already

When you think of Utah what comes to mind?  Mormons?  Skiing?  Polygamy?  Movies?  At least once a year Utah borrows Hollywood’s spotlight and we all get a treat called The Sundance Film Festival.  What most Utahns know, but many people outside of the Bubble do not, is that Hollywood spends a lot more time in Utah than just the week long film festival celebration.  In fact some of the greatest movies ever were made right here in Utah.  Today we are going to celebrate those movies and you get to choose which one is the best of them.

Make sure you leave comments on why you think your choice is the best because every time you comment on our site now you enter to win a prize.  The prize could be a Utah Bubble t-shirt, movie tickets or something cool that one of our sponsors donates to the cause.  So make sure you comment!

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.  You can PICK UP TO THREE movies when you vote and we know we may have missed one or two movies that you may like, but as always we gave our fans a chance to nominate their favorite films made in Utah, so if you are that passionate about who makes it onto the list be sure to keep up on things and you can nominate your favs in future polls (Best Utah Mommy Blogger and Best Burger in Utah are coming very soon).

What a race!  Well at least for second and third place.  Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum ran away in our first annual Flippin Most Funnest Place in Utah poll with Hogle Zoo coming in a distant second.  The staff at Discovery Gateway spread the word early and by mid week they were closing in on 1,000 votes, and easily captured the title, but the race between Hogle Zoo and The Utah Shakespearean Festival was a fun one to watch as there were several lead changes a day over the last few days.  Then today, without any warning or big announcements, Lagoon came roaring back and ended up tying The Shakespearean Festival for third place.  What separated the three?  ONE VOTE!

It was a job well done by the Discovery Gateway team to get the word out and help them win the first annual Flippin Most Funnest Place in Utah Award.

While we figure out all the ways to pay homage to the top four winners of our last poll, we bring you a new poll and we are asking for you to help us nominate the contestants for several other polls that are coming up.

A few weeks ago we asked you all to nominate names for The Bear Lake Sea Monster and the nominations are in.  There are 10 choices on the poll below (in case you can’t count – I guess that was a dumb statement after all, but lets keep it anyways) and you get to pick one per vote so choose carefully  This poll will close Friday at 5PM and at that time we will finally have a name for the beast… one that will go on our Bear Lake Sea Monster T-shirt and into the history books… forever!

I also need to quickly say HAPPY STAR WARS DAY… to all of you Star Wars nerd and geeks like me (OK- I don’t dress up, but like you all I want my wife to dress up in that Princess Leia outfit from Jaba’s Palace) it is a great day to remember the greatest trilogy that ever was.

What a week!  Hogle Zoo, our favorite to win, captured more votes than any other contestant with The Utah Shakespearean Festival and Lagoon being the only other places to grab over 100 votes.  Still, there were some great races.  The Great Outdoors was so close that in the end Lake Powell and Moab actually tied for third, getting them both a spot in the finals.  Thanksgiving Point, who started off very strong, was ultimately beaten out by Discovery Gateway and Nightmare on 13th.  Another great comeback was Deer Valley Resort who in two days came from behind and knocked off Sundance Resort.

While there were a few strange nominees (wherever Chris is and Park City Health Care) one was successful in claiming a spot in the finals.  Lindsay’s Mom’s House beat out Arctic Circle and Hee Haw Farms with 38 votes, the lowest total for any contestant moving on.

So enough with the recap!  Lets get the FINAL POLL going!  The finals poll is now open and will close Sunday at midnight (Mountain Daylight Time).  You only get one vote so be sure to tell your friends, your family, your mailman (or mailwoman to be over politically correct), your therapist and your chiropractor to come vote too.  Write your congressman and your senator too .

OK Gang… Donny and Marie have been crowned as the Greatest Utahns of All Time and because you all had so much fun we are going to crown another victor in The Bubble.  This time we at The Bubble will be asking for your help in crowning the “The Flippin Most Funnest Place in Utah”.  So where would you be in The Bubble if you had the choice?  Would you be hanging in the great outdoors, flying around on a ride at Lagoon, taking in a show at The Utah Shakespearean Festival, hanging at a Park City resort, or petting some animals at your favorite farm?  We want to know!

Now when you consider all the fun places there are in the state it’s just too hard for us to pick them all… so we are looking to you for some help.  You get to nominate YOUR FAVORITE PLACES starting today!  Then, after a week of nominations, we will break the poll down into five categories:
