One of the best parts of living in the Bubble are the blogs. There are so many good blogs that come your way just from living here in Utah… some inform you, some are political, some are about life and some keep you in the loop on trends, events, products and services. Today we are going to introduce you to one of the sites that does a great job at being great:

Your Heart Out

My wife turned me on to this blog recently and after checking out a few times I was surprised to find a site that does it right on the local level. Your Heart Out hasn’t sold out to junk product presentations offering you crappy giveaways that would be re-gifted at first chance if you happen to win them… Your Heart Out is kind of like that last bowl of porridge. Just right.

So take a few minutes and go check out Your Heart Out and catch up with what you have missed so far and get ready cause UtahBubble.com will soon be apart of Your Heart Out’s Thursday “Check it Out” post. Proof that they are cool!

In Bubble New for this week it appears the world is all messed up about this whole Obama’s Mama getting the proxy baptism by some Mormon who forgot the rules. So for all of you who are following this story here is a great article by Robert Kirby in the Salt Lake Tribune: CLICK HERE FOR ARTICLE

For all you twitter fans in Utah be sure to follow Utah Business Magazine: http://twitter.com/UtahBusiness There really aren’t many sources as good for information on Utah Business, but I sure would like to ask one of their people why Utah has rated 48th in pay scale. Considering that there are 50 states and the fact that Utah is one of the, if not THE, most educated states in America it is a bit odd that we rank 48th in average pay scale. Don’t you think?

THAT’S RIGHT… UTAH RANKED 48th IN PAY SCALE… that is horrible. Especially when everyone is trying hard to get out of this recession-rut we get to find out that even if you get a job in Utah you probably won’t make much. Oh the Bubble!

ATTENTION ALL FACEBOOKERS: Check out this article on how some folks on facebook.com may take all your money - http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=6409532

We also want to congratulate John Sluder of Wellsville, Utah was has been called to the Uruguay, Montevido Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is to report to the MTC Argentina on September 3, 2009. His family want him to know how proud they are and their message is… “Way to go John!”

Now John, make sure you don’t come home too fat and all the best from the gang at Utah Bubble.

Last, but not least, we would like to let designer Jack McCollough, who was head-butted by 24 star Kiefer Sutherland the other day, that we hope his nose gets better, but if he does anything to disrupt 24 we will hire someone to spill wine on every outfit he designs… FOREVER. It’s just a nose man and in Hollywood and Fashion you people change your noses all the time, but 24 is the best show ever and if you destroy, in any way, the joy millions of fans get from watching Jack Bauer do what Obama would never have the guts to, we will all hate you.

Basically we don’t care you got head-butted, but we do care about 24!

QUICK ADD: Special Thanks to Tracy and Ralph who donated to the cause yesterday when we went to eat at a local burger joint (The Oakley Polar King which will be featured on our upcoming poll) up in Oakley. Because we had a gift certificate me and the mrs both forgot to bring cash in case we over ordered. One dollar short Tracy, who works at the Kamas doctor’s office (yes – there is only one), swooped in and saved the day (or at least $1 in gas that would’ve been spent going back to the house to fetch a $1). Thanks guys!

A recent inquiry into the Department of Human Oddities by the Department of Peculiar People’s Rights Initiative Group has shown that claims made by many in Park City are true: Park City is not and has never been part of the Utah Bubble. Michael Michale, a shrimp farmer in Morgan, responded to the news earlier today. ”Well that figures. Those folks wouldn’t know the Bubble if it hit them in the face,” exclaimed Michale. Dr. John P Simonsonianson, a researcher for the DPPRIG, isn’t so sure.

“The people of Park City know the Bubble very well and it has hit them in the face,” said Dr. Simonsonianson, “In fact, our study shows that residence of Park City actually don’t wish they were part of the Bubble because they really don’t like the Bubble. It is hard to imagine, but we are discovering new things every day.”

Jim Karden, Park City local, who has never left the state and who happens to be a big movie buff wanted to express his outlook on the Bubble. ”I live in Park City because you can rent any movies you want and they aren’t edited for content,” said Karden. ”But the beer is awful everywhere in the world thanks to the Bubble,” he added. Samantha “Too Tall” Joansey, a Park City resident, thinks more needs to be done in order to truly know whether Park City is a part of the Bubble and whether it could become part of the Bubble in the near future. “Our lives are at stake here,” said Joansey, “And our kids too. We need to make sure the Bubble never reaches them or soon they will be sheltered and who know what that could lead to? Attention, cuddling and less time skiing and golfing! We need to put together a committee to watch over the groups that review the work from the departments who are doing the research!”

“We really are doing all that we can,” mentioned Dr. Simonsonianson.

Janny Dayer, a member of Park City Against Bubbleness Forever and Ever, a privately funded activist group, is not so sure. ”I’m afraid we aren’t doing everything we can to stop the Bubble from spreading. If we don’t start fixing our city today and if we don’t start teaching our children what the Bubble is, we may very well see the devastation that comes with it. Like owning too many Disney movies,” said Dayer

Dr. Simonsonianson agrees there is still much research that needs to be done, but for now Park City will be considered a city on top of the Bubble. ”Of course there is more too do, so maybe we aren’t doing everything that we can, but all considered, I am sure that Park City is safe from becoming part of the Bubble for some time,” the doctor added, “but you never really know. And what’s wrong with Disney movies?”

In order to get the word out PCABFE has created two shirts that they hope people in Park City will wear as a warning. They hope this T-shirt, and others like it, can save their future!

OK… here is how the Utah Bubble team sees this serious going down:

Game 1: Kobe’s ego is injured when a Laker cheerleader says she thinks he is ugly. He is so concerned about it that the Jazz win an upset.

Game 2: Kobe is feeling better after buying his wife a new ring to say sorry for hitting on a cheerleader. Lakers win.

Game 3: The Lakers take another game even though Boozer has a great game.

Game 4: Jazz players eat spinach and their muscles grow strong. Jazz win in OT!

Game 5: Lakers jerseys are shrunk when being cleaned and they have to wear new ones which are very itchy. This leads to Utah taking game 5.

Game 6: Lakers take game six thanks to anti-itch cream.

Game 7: The game no one ever thought could happen happens and the Jazz pull off the miracle!!! In a last second shot Williams wins game 7 as the third OT ends. YES… THE JAZZ WIN!!!! Kobe gets upset and cries a lot!

Now I know this may be just a dream, but we will dream it.

Oh, and don’t forget to visit our FAN OF THE WEEK!

Born in the Bubble

There are many myths about Utah that one hears in the world. There’s the “every man has five wives” and there’s “Utah has more weddings than any place in America” and of course I can’t forget “most kids in high school are married before they graduate”. Now these myths are exactly that… myths. OK, there are some guys who have five wives, but it is not the norm. Then there’s the wedding thing, but wrong again because Texas has more weddings every year than any other state. Oh and the thing about most high school kids being married. WRONG. It’s college kids OK!

There is one thing that Utah can claim and it is not what you were thinking… people in Utah are getting some! Oh yeah… I mean exactly what you think. People in Utah have proof they are really getting the lovin’. The hot sauce is being poured all over the state and we have proof. I’m not talking about your pal James who claims he is getting the forbidden fruit (I couldn’t help myself)… come on… you know he’s probably lying about most of his crazy affairs. So is your gal pal Jenny. Liars. But us folk in Utah… we have serious proof.

We have kids. And we have more kids than anyone else in the country. In fact according to a Deseret News article in August of 2008 women in Utah are having babies at a rate that blows the national average away! While the rest of the country averages 1 in 18 women who can… and do… Utah’s average of ladies who do is 1 in 12!

In fact, according to the Deseret News article, in 2006 Utah’s birth rate was higher than Mexico’s! Oh yeah baby!

And before you go there let me also tell you that Utah ranked dead last in teen births and thus we kill another myth! Now the next time any of my Utah brothers are hanging in the backyard having a bar-b-cue and some guy from Cali is talkin smack about being a playa all you need to do is say, “Hey kids”, and when your ten kids come walking outside to ask you what you need, you just look at that dude and say, “Who’s a playa now fool?”

Now we haven’t forgotten you beautiful and wonderful moms. You do the hard part and to pay homage to your amazing efforts we at the Bubble asked our creative director Tovey to come up with a t-shirt that celebrates your labors (again I just couldn’t help it).

I give you “Born in the Bubble”. A celebration of life and birth in Utah! And yes it will be available on t-shirts, tank-tops and onesies soon… and probably in maternity too

And to all Utahns keep the babies coming… cause the Utah Bubble is always looking for new fans like you!

We interrupt our normally humor based programming to salute our Navy SEALS who were able to save the American ship captain who had been taken prisoner by Somali pirates earlier this week. We also want to solute Captain Richard Phillips who put himself in danger to save the lives of his crew. We think Captain Phillips deserves the highest honors available to an American for his bravery, and since he is ex-military we wonder if he could be considered for the Medal of Honor.

No matter what awards these men receive, the most important part is that the Captain is now safe and most of his captors are dead. Perhaps Somali pirates will think twice about nabbing an America again! So an Easter gift was given to the Phillips family and to all Americans and for that we at the Utah Bubble salute them!

Now back to the jokes…

A blind man in a bar leans over to the guy next to him and says, “Wanna hear a good Utah joke?”

The guy next to him replies, “Well before you tell that joke, you should know something. I’m 6′ tall, 200 lbs., and I grew up in Utah and even graduated from Utah State. The guy sitting next to me is 6′ 2″ tall, weighs 225, and he also grew up here and graduated from BYU. And the fella next to him is 6′ 5″ tall, weighs 250, and he grew up in Utah and graduated from the University of Utah. Now, you sure you still wanna tell that joke?”

The Blind man replies, “No, not if I’m gonna have to explain it three times, and what the heck is the guy from BYU doing here anyways?”

p.s. Did anyone see my brain-fart spelling error? It is fixed now, but it was a bad one! Freaking spell check doesn’t always work for the tired man does it!?!?!?!?!

Scientists recently confirmed the possibility that a Sea Monster lives in Bear Lake. While some members of the scientific community are still skeptical, a special team, AlienFoot, that has studied aliens, Bigfoot and people who live in Mississippi, say they may have proof the monster does in fact live in Bear Lake. Dr. Jonas Brutha, founder of AlienFoot and lifetime Canadian resident, is excited about the discovery of a sea monster in Bear Lake. Local resident Peter Smith says he saw the creature only a few weeks ago.

“It was real big. Like a monster,” said Smith. When asked if it should be labeled a lake monster Smith replied, “Oh no. It was too big to be a lake monster. It has to be a sea monster.”

Some critics aren’t so sure. Dr. Steven Carl Mako, a chiropractor, said there is no way it could have swam from the sea into Utah’s Bear Lake, but Dr. Brutha isn’t sure it would have needed to.

“It easily could be a resident whose ancestors found their way into the lake millions of years ago when the ocean covered Utah,” said Dr. Brutha, “Or aliens could have dropped in the lake,” he added.

While this controversy continues, we at UtahBubble.com felt there was a serious issue with our Utah Monster. He (or She) doesn’t have a name! So we are setting out to name it and we want your help. Please send us your name choices and we will pick the five best, post them next week and a vote will be cast. Then we at the very least have a name for the monster that is lurking in Bear Lake.

We will continue to research this story and bring you the latest, but for more information on The Bear Lake Sea Monster go here:
