We want to know what you love and hate about The Bubble. Since I am asking for you to tell, I will go ahead and tell you what I love and hate about Utah.
One thing I love are the mountains and the fishing. Seriously, I have rarely had as much fun fishing as I have in Utah. Whether you are fishing the Green River, Provo River or any of the many lakes, fishing in Utah is a ton of fun. To top it off, you are surrounded with beautiful mountains as long as the pollution isn’t too thick.
One thing I hate about Utah is the fact that people are too frugal. It’s hard to make good money in Utah and people just don’t seem to care about quality… instead they seem to only care about whether they can get your goods/services at a discount.
OK… so I went… now it’s your turn… let us know what is right and wrong about the good old Beehive State.

So, I don’t live in Utah at the moment. BUT, I lived there for seven years, if that counts. First, I love the mountains. I went to college in Idaho and then transferred to Utah State from being raised in a small Illinois town. I love, love, love the mountains. No other mountains on earth are so welcoming or beautiful. That goes for the mountains in Logan, those around Salt Lake City and those in Heber City and further south. I know it is the same mountain range, but each area has its own specialty to offer. I miss the mountains during every season – especially since we have no seasons here in Arizona.
Now, for what I hate. A friend had a craft business and it failed largely in part because the people would come and look at the items and instead of buying anything, would go home and make their own. It was as if her talent wasn’t respected and/or they were too ‘frugal’ (as you called it) to spend the money for her time and effort. That is just one example of the frugality. And you were also right about so-called discounts. Everyone wants something for nothing or at least next-to-nothing. If you are member of the ’state religion’ which I am, it is expected that you will offer a deal to others.
Well… now that I’m finished ranting, I’ll let someone else answer.
All-in-all, though, the mountains make the frugality worth living there! I miss it.
I have had the pleasure of living in Utah almost as long as I have outside of Utah. Because of this I think I have good reasons for loving and hating what I do abotu Utah.
I love the weather here. Not too hot in the summer, not too cold in the winter. The blessing of little to no humidity is AMAZING! It keeps the summers enjoyable rather than dreaded. It keeps the roads in the winter from turning to ice when any moisture is on them. we don’t have the big natural disasters like others…tornados, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes. Minus the wind (which is sometimes enjoyable) Utah’s weather is the best!
There isn’t a thng I HATE about Utah but here are some I dislike. Utah drivers. They dont’ know how to merge, use turn signals, or let you in. Ever notice that when you turn on your blinker to switch lanes it is almost like the person took that as a signal to speed up and not let you in!? Everybody has to know everything. People here love to gossip. Now it doens’t have to be the mean, hurtful kind. Most of it is just “Did you know so and so did _____!?” “So and so told me _________.” The person night not even be known to all people involved in the conversation but Utahans thrive on knowing everything about everybody. Slow down and eye. Becuase Utahan’s think they know everything and everybody, they can’t drive past someone’s house or turn the corner without checking out who is in the yard or who is driving. I live on a well driven road and people almost ge rear-ended from dummies slowing down to see if they know me. You don’t! Keep moving! Those ones and These ones. Folks, this is not correct Engligh. You either say these or those but not these ones and those ones.
Okay I will stop now, but to be honest….that third paragraph felt great
Don’t get me wrong, I love Utah….but I would be okay moving away.
Haa! I just found this site. Its so adorable! Great job for whomever started it.
So there are SOOO many things I love about UTAH!! I am from Washington State and moved here after my 5th year of marriage. I joined the church in Washington when I was 18 and know what its like to not know your neigboors very well. I know what its like to not have a sense of community. And Gossip happens in all small towns, regardless if your LDS. Utah has a pride, love, and uniqueness about it. There are always plenty of things to complain about here, but there is something extremely special about Utah.
My favioret things are the strong families, the activities for my children, the common goals as communitys and the strong sense of adventure and growth. Utah is Alive all the time. New business, new schools, more colleges! So many parts of the country are just dull and same old same old. We are kicking butt and taking names here day after day!
NOW, Utah also has its downsides! PERFECTION! COME ON NOW PEOPLE! ITS NOT REAL, and you cant achieve it. The perfect children, the perfect body, the perfect house, car, hair, clothes, yard, job, wife, husband, etc…. The one thing that would make Utah better is the exceptance of others for who they are. Love and Charity for yourselves, for who you are. Not what your neigboor is. Most of the young house mama’s are happy, but so many are wrapped up in looks and having it all. Thats the one thing that Utah seems to be missing. Diversity and honesty in themselves.
I have ranted on here tons. But I am truly in Love with Utah, and don’t know if I will ever return to my beautiful Washington state. Althougth I miss the FRESH LAKES, and hate all of these resivours. Those are not lakes people! We need fresh lakes around here!
