When you think of Utah what comes to mind? Mormons? Skiing? Polygamy? Movies? At least once a year Utah borrows Hollywood’s spotlight and we all get a treat called The Sundance Film Festival. What most Utahns know, but many people outside of the Bubble do not, is that Hollywood spends a lot more time in Utah than just the week long film festival celebration. In fact some of the greatest movies ever were made right here in Utah. Today we are going to celebrate those movies and you get to choose which one is the best of them.
Make sure you leave comments on why you think your choice is the best because every time you comment on our site now you enter to win a prize. The prize could be a Utah Bubble t-shirt, movie tickets or something cool that one of our sponsors donates to the cause. So make sure you comment!
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming. You can PICK UP TO THREE movies when you vote and we know we may have missed one or two movies that you may like, but as always we gave our fans a chance to nominate their favorite films made in Utah, so if you are that passionate about who makes it onto the list be sure to keep up on things and you can nominate your favs in future polls (Best Utah Mommy Blogger and Best Burger in Utah are coming very soon).

Some of these I’ve never seen because they are rated “R”. Who is your audience????
LOL… our audience is everyone Mary… but I hear you “have” watched lots of fun rated R movies from your best friend
Hope you and the baby are doing great!
Why Not “Savanah Smiles”? Fun movie.
Savanah Smiles is a good one. I say you add it on there.
Independence Day was filmed in Utah?! WTF?!
Napoleon Dynamite was filmed in Idaho. Not Utah.
Everyone needs to watch Savannah Smiles and then vote:)
Turns out Citizen Kane Wannabe was right… Napoleon Dynamite was mostly filmed in Preston, Idaho… but come on… Preston… that’s like Utah to the second degree.
I say the film is so bubblicious we leave it
For shame… You forgot Rubin and Ed.
Where is Brigham City? I thought it got quite a bit a praise in the comments from the last post you did on this. (Does this comment qualify for a free t-shirt or movie tickets? I want to win something.)
Alright, I know I’m a little old to be saying this… But where the heck are the High School Musical Movies!!!?? Hello, East High!!! Add them to the List!
High School Musical!?!?!?!?!?! I thought this poll was to vote on THE BEST MOVIES made in Utah
Yikes!
damien, its ok you can admit that you own all three. we wont judge you!
ps im not voting till at least the first one is added to the list!
oh just kidding it already is. ooops. thank you very much!
Hey now…if Discovery Gateway can win funnest place in Utah, HSM should certainly have a chance at best fetchin flick! Come on now… (I actually have only seen the first one once and none of the others yet, but I think you have to be fair…)
Kristy… Don’t be a hater again
DG is fun and their fans happened to have more willing friends than everyone else did in our recent Most Funnest poll… HSM isn’t well done at all and definitely isn’t cult classic so it really shouldn’t be on the list.
BUT WE LOVE OUR FANS.
And therefore we pander to you all
no haterness here…I’m just sayin fair is fair…that is all
Napoleon Dynamite had a scene or 2 filmed in Utah. The diner is (was, since torn down) in Richmond, Utah.
What about Broken Arrow? The story takes place in Utah and I believe was mostly filmed in Utah.
Savannah Smiles
I second Savannah Smiles
The best movie filmed in Utah is Brigham City because it is well crafted, has the small-town community feel of rural Utah, exposes members of other faiths to sacrament meeting and is a great murder mystery.
